Background information of Dr. Munisamy Thambidurai:
One of the senior AIADMK leaders now, he entered politics during the MGR period. He was deputy speaker of the Lok Sabha in 1984. He served as a law minister in the Vajpayee regime in 1999 and later he became education minister of Tamil Nadu. He founded a couple of self financing engineering colleges and his family members have been running them now.
