Background information of Sathyanarayana Sarvey:
An advocate by profession, Satyanarayana is a prominent Scheduled Castes leader. He was elected to the State Assembly in 1985. However, he lost three consecutive elections from 1989-2004. But in the 2004 general elections, he got elected to the Lok Sabha from Siddipet, a seat reserved for SCs. Due to de-limitation, he was forced to contest from a general seat, Malkajgiri, which had two high-profile candidates including former Home Minister TDP’s T Devender Goud and BJP’s N.Indrasena Reddy. However, due to a YSR-led Congress-wave, he was re-elected.
