Background information of Andimuthu Raja:
Considered one of the close confidants of party chief M Karunanidhi, Raja is one of Dalit faces of the party. Advocate by profession, Raja was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1996. In 2009 he was appointed cabinet minister for communication and information technology until being tainted in the 2G spectrum scam and resigning in 2010.
