Son of senior Congress leader and former Union Minister G Venkat Swamy, Vivekananda is an industrialist and owns the Visakha Industries (listed with BSE) and was Chairman of the Visakha Group of Companies. His father Venkatswamy was elected from Peddapalli four times (1989, 1991, 1996 and 2004). In 2009, Vivekananda got elected on Congress ticket. His brother, G Vinod, was a AP State Labour Minister in the YS Rajashekhara Reddy’s cabinet (2004-09), but lost from Chennur Assembly seat in 2009 elections.
