Background information of Saroj Pandey:
Saroj Pandey started her political career at the local municipal level and rose to become the Mayor of the small city of Durg – a position she retained for 10 years. She was spotted by the BJP for her middle class background, good looks and acceptability, and given a ticket for the assembly elections. She won the seat of MLA from Vaishali Nagar constituency in Chattisgarh on December 2008. When she won by a wide margin, the party gave her a ticket for the Lok sabha election.
Kumari Saroj Pandey is a popular youth and women leader. On 31st March 2013, Saroj Pandey was appointed as president of the BJP Mahila Morcha.
