Background information of Madhu Kora:
A labourer who earned Rs 20 a day, Madhu Koda was a RSS activist. He contested on a BJP ticket in 1996 and won the assembly polls. After the formation of Jharkhand, he was appointed Minister – a position he held on to in two consecutive governments. His position as the Minister of Mines put him in charge of the state’s mineral wealth. In 2005, he left BJP and won an assembly seat as an independent. Koda rose to become state chief minister in 2006 with the help of independents, Congress and smaller parties. Koda is currently in jail for allegedly siphoning off Rs 4000 crores (approx).
