Background information of Mohan Jena:

Grassroots politician. An influential Dalit leader, Jena started his political career as a student leader. He was the first Dalit to be elected President of the Student Union at Utkal University in Bhubaneshwar. He then became General Secretaray of the Yuva Janta Dal in Orissa, and slowly rose in the ranks within the state political structure.
