- Salman Khurshid ran for presidency of India Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC) and lost from opponent Sirajuddin Qureshi( Managing Director of Hind Agro Industries Limited, a meat export company ). Foundation stone for the IICC organisation was laid by Indira Gandhi in August 1984 and was inaugurated by Congress president Sonia Gandhi in June 2006.
- In February 2012, he promised a nine per cent sub-quota for backward Muslims in Uttar Pradesh while campaigning for his wife, Louise Khurshid, for MLA seat in Farrukhabad. She cried after seeing pictures of Batla house encounter, (The encounter took place on September 19, 2008 in Jamia Nagar in Delhi. Corruption Allegations
Salman Khurshid and his wife Louise Khurshid, are the chief functionary officers of NGO Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust. There has been a sting operation by Aajtak Channel (source ) revealing that the trust has received money for welfare of Physically disabled people. But the amount was taken out by doing forged signatures and stamps of district officers. CAG also pointed out serious irregularities in Khurshid’s trust and Union ministry of social justice and empowerment repeatedly gave funds again in 2011 even after finding the irregularities (source).
