Background information of Sharad Yadav:
He started his political career when he was elected as the President of the Jabalpur Student’s Union in 1971. In 1974, he was elected to the 5th Lok Sabha in a bye-election. Sharad Yadav is among the original Mandal politicians of India. He was a member of the prime minister V P Singh’s cabinet between 1989 and 1990, and has always been a vociferous champion of caste-based reservation. He later crossed over to the JD(U) and became a partof the BJP-led NDA govt.
