Background information of Thiru Dayanidhi Maran:
His father Murasoli Maran was former union industries and commerce minister. After Murasoli Maran’s death, Dayanidhi entered into politics. As a debutant MP he became India’s youngest IT minister in 2004. He is also the grand nephew of chief minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi. The young Maran was asked to step down from the post of union minister by the party leadership following a bitter family dispute. He was given ticket again following his rapprochement with Karunanidhi family.
