Background information of Hassan Khan:
Associated with National Conference. However, over the denial of mandate in 2009, he contested the elections as an Independent candidate and got elected. He was a police officer and served the J&K police for 35 years in different positions. He contested elections in 1999 after his retirement, having maintained his political connections during his time in government service.
